Group Leader Glynda Green 01636 860311

The group has studied a wide democratically selected range of periods and genres from Beowulf to 21st Century. We are not a Book club aiming to achieve one book per month and sometimes we may extend study of an author over several sessions, engaging with style, authorial purpose and critical perspective and, above all, our own personal response and opinions.

Different Group members take responsibility for introducing a session or series of sessions and this level of participation enables us to have a variety of approaches.

This year’s authors included Elizabeth Gaskell, George Eliot, Thomas Hardy, Anthony Trollope, Joseph Conrad, Dylan Thomas, RS Thomas, DH Lawrence and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

This group meets on alternate Wednesday mornings 10 - 12 at the homes of the group of members in Newark and District. Parking is available at all venues and transport is shared where possible. There is at present a waiting list for this group.

Members make a contribution each meeting to cover refreshments. Members also buy texts of authors choosen but these are often cheaply available through Amazon or Kindle.
